First of all, meet the new baby

Josephine Anna, born October 7th, looking exactly like the other two, we are very happy!

Feeling Creative?

It looks like I was not that creative for a while. Even though I was not so much on the blog, my mind was still on the job. In August it was Rembrandt's birthday, and on that sunny day we had a big outside adventure. The boys found an ancient letter with a cry for help from far away, and the search began for an old trunk with an invisible dragon inside... You can imagine it was big fun!

I used the story from that day to make a new book for my little knight and his friends (tip: watch it full screen!):

Maybe you've heard about this before, if not, go check it out: One Million Giraffes it's all about a bet really, just get 1.000.000 giraffes on the internet before 2011. It's big fun, little catch: you cannot use your PC, just old fashion drawing at the table or creating with your own hands. Just picture it and upload it to the website. It's not about getting to 1000000 (that is a lot, I mean: a LOT) it's more about getting people from the PC to the table again, just having some odd Giraffe fun. I loved looking at the galery, and drawing with Rembrandt our own giraffe, just uploaded it...

It was my dad standing at the side of our little pool in the middle of little Holland who said: "don't pee in the swimming pool"

He turned his head over to me and said: "You must learn him to go to the toilet when he needs to" and to Rembrandt again: "I don't think mom likes it when you pee in the pool..."

Rembrandt: "... oh... she doesn't mind..."
Dad looked at me and I just said: "uhm...well...ahum... I uhm... I pee in the pool too..."

Talking about chaos, over here it looks like a bomb just exploded. Lucky for me: MOM helps out!!!! The title is a Dutch expression: "Een huishouden van Jan Steen"

When your household is a mess, or badly organized, one may compare it to "Jan Steen's household".

Well not really: Jan Steen is a Dutch painter from the 17th century who is well-known for his paintings of chaotic household scenes from those times. These were quite popular and hence the proverb originated. You can also use it figuratively, i.e. not specifically for a household. (Dutch Word of the Day) For Digidare #139

Little challenge layout, one about working space. Just a pic with or without you and a journal. Well... did not take the picture, just made a collage of elements that shows the working space inside my head. I can honestly say there is less chaos then before, does it show?

I have a confession to make... I am thinking about eating the dog, and isn't my own little red devil the cutest? When I do eat Bananabut... the little red devil told me so.....

Cucumber Season

Uhm... what? Well it's a Dutch saying: literally "cucumber time"

Mostly used for July and August, but here in Little Holland, in our home, it already started. First Lorelei, next week she is going to be ONE, and what a little lady she is. Her day is all about standing up, walking away, smiling and food. In the meanwhile she makes me smile a lot too! Her big brother Rembrandt is something else, still two weeks to go in school before summer starts, every day is a struggle now - he doesn't feel like going anymore. Hang in there little man... outside adventures start soon...

Today I found out I have created the kind of man who likes to sit quit and relaxed in the Little Room.... he's 5 now, but already enjoying a good SIT.

We went to a playground, and he was running around like an alpha-everybody-look-at-me making friends and enemies in just one blink of an eye, his little sis crawling and sniffing the floor and I just drinking my coffee, it was a blast. At home Rembrandt was running to the toilet (nothing like home I think) and I was waiting, and waiting, and waiting.... finally I marched to the little room and wrapped my head around the corner: "what..."

He just looked up and said: "Oh... I'm just sitting here, so nice and relaxed in my own stinky air, I like it so much..."

Hahahahaha, is it some kind of gen? It must be...

Running in the Room

Me and Mr. Steed are 30-something and very afraid of going downhill, you know little fatbulb here and there, no condition, first wrinkle and OMG is that a grey hair????

Solution necessary, we made a deal, he's my new run buddy and I am his in return (yep gotta do something). So we looked up a starters schedule, running from the couch to a 20 minute run in 10 weeks, starting yesterday.

First run: 5 times 1 minute running in a relaxed way, you should be able to speak while you're running, or as mr. Steed said: smoke a cigarette (lol) and in between just walking. Big deal I thought, that was a little mistake. Outside it was stormy weather, bye bye motivation... but I did not want to give up, so I put on this walking shoes and just started in my living room, from the couch around the table, from the curtains to the kitchen it was very funny. Well the first minute I was still smiling, the last minute I was just thinking about the couch, but hey... who's laughing now?

Rembrandt loves to play superhero. I am his assistant, so every time he shouts "gathering time" we run to my bedroom (my bed is the best hiding place he decided) and start to make plans, get our gadgets together and put on our strength for that day - you never know when bad guys show up, do you?

His favorite right now is 'bathrobe man' he puts on mine, a pinkish fluffy one and voila a new superhero is born. I look like miss Piggy in it but Rembrandt looks like a pink version of Batman (he thinks). His secret weapon is turning around with the sleeves, the Megaclap he calls it, very damaging of course.

Lucky for me I could make up my own, what a privilege, so now I am Super Spitting Girl! My power? Spitting big balls of yakki to the enemie, never miss one and it's not nice, believe me. You can imagine we have lots of fun with our game of the day.

Very glad to announce: Blingit!

It all started with an animal print (yes I know, that one is gone hahaha) made me think bling bling. That was the beginning point. The print did not make it in the kit (sorry mr. Steed) but do you miss it? I love mixed media so this kit is a little bit of everything stylish and it's huge (for Lukasin standards I mean, don't want to brag about it, but it's HUGE haha) It contains 12 papers, girly and boyish elements, two big sheets with all kinds off wordart (some doodle slang & comic graffiti I would call it) lots of frames (maybe bad taste but hey... don't you love that sometimes?) and more...

As if I'm not busy enough. This week I started a new blog (lol, I know!) "the Candyscrap"
I am still a little bit a newbie when it comes to digital crafts. Last summer I had never touched Photoshop in my life. I just started, cause what else to do with all those beautiful pictures on my desktop? Well, as so many I was addicted immediately, and slowly I discovered a whole world out here with so many beautiful and amazing things. I could not help myself, so here I am, also sharing my stuff to the world.

On the net I am still figuring out what suits me the most. It is a kind of funny cause I keep moving around, but now I think I have found my spot: the Candyscrap, go check it out! the Crazy is over

The big news in Little Holland of course was about the attack on Queen's Day. So weird, the sorry thing about it is that people were killed in the run of that crazy car, and this day of tradition will not be so innocent next time, it's a sad thing.

But the days will take back their normal form, now it's Monday and I found out there is a lot of blog-reading waiting for me on my beloved Google Reader list. Maybe I should wait another day, today is a special day in Little Holland too. May 4 we keep war victims in memorial, and it's also a day to celebrate freedom. I should watch the telly and do little..

The only thing is to tell you I am working on a new freebie, several actually, that makes it harder to finish one. Today I was thinking: make up your mind girl, pick one for now. And I did, still have to finish it of course - haha - but I think later on this week I can post it here, so keep your eyes open. And now... TV! Oh no I have to cook something...

It's Queens day in Little Holland, normally that's our day of old tradition, playing outside and walking the flee markets everywhere. But now something bizarre happened. The day started out to be beautiful, nice weather, the people of Apeldoorn all happy outside - the Royal Family was visiting that town - and suddenly while they were driving in a big open touring car, some other car came out of nothing and hit a monument just near that bus. The worst thing: the car went trough the public! More than 20 people hurt, some badly, 5 killed in the accident, and the news is still coming in. It is awful! Also it is not clear what happened, was it an accident? The car hit two barricades before it was on route of the Royal Family, that's very strange. Most of the activities nationwide are cancelled, and this day wich had to be our party is getting darker and darker. Little Holland is sad.

Yesterday, 9 months! What a present this child is! Rembrandt at this age was perfectly happy on his little m2, just playing and investigating his toys and stuff around him. But not Lorelei no, she's more the type for big adventures.

She's not very elegant, more like an elephant in a cabinet full of Chinese porcelain. When she wants to pick up something she first waves her arm around, it looks like a tennis service, and attempts to really pick it up. It does not work always and she loses interest, she does not know that she actually have five fingers to use, it's very funny.

But... she crawls all over the place going everywhere she wants to go, she is standing up and even walking around the table or her bed, with a big smile of course. Little accidents happen also, but when the tears are gone, hup, there she goes again, Lorelei on the GO!

The teacher said it also: he's thinking deep thoughts, sometimes very funny or touching, but it also can be a burden - for him that is. He has a lot to offer, but can be a little bit insecure too and his working tasks in school... pffft he rather goes playing and fooling around. I don't mind at all, playing is very nice, not?

Feeling like a kid in the digital playground, I felt like pink, old fashioned pink, the kind of pink I would easily combine with a picture of my tough guy Rembrandt. I think it worked haha, maybe he thinks otherwise but for now... well...

Because I was going so nice I decided to put my own lay-outs as a Quickpage in the kit, so that is a little bonus for you.

My personal tip, and taste haha, is to use B/W photo's, I think that goes wonderful with the colors of the kit. But feel free to ignore my sayings... Hope you enjoy my stuff, have fun with it!

A while ago I picked up some old pictures at my mothers, you know nostalgic ones of your grandparents as little kids in school or youngsters in love. It were mostly pictures from my mothers side of the family and I love love love it.

So I started a family photo book, looking for more classic material which suits the pics and time frame. I start working with quickpages (so easy) they offer me that classic look I wanted, my own brain never turns that direction so otherwise my screen would be so empty and now the pages are filling themselves with those vintage pics. So nice, kicked off and you can see it here have fun!

Well, we went on a vacation for one week, so I'm a little behind on my work. That had nothing to do with the week of joy in the swimming pool, it's because my PC also went for a little SPA adventure in the land of the NERDS.

OEF, we are back now for almost a week, but the PC? NOT! What do I have to do now in the evening? I don't like the TV anymore and I cherish the hour my kids sleep both at the same time behind my desktop. Love the updates in my Google Reader, keeping up with the news and blogs I like to follow. But now.... had to wait another week hmpffff.

And he's back (is it a HE? Yep, I'm beating up the keyboard so I think it must be a He then haha) What a relieve, making my computer personal again... I exist again!

My sister & hubby, who did a fantastic job on collecting the soccer cards which are a big hit in Holland at this moment. The whole country is in fever of collecting these pieces of paper (oops).

Children standing outside the supermarket begging for the free cards you get when you spend a few euro, and at daddy's work there is a lively trade going on in the lunch hour. Our book is almost ready, so Granny makes lists, aunts and uncles help collecting the cards, and we say a big Thank You!

Today Rembrandt had a party at school, a dress-up party how nice! He's not a big fan of that but the idea to misbehave himself all morning as superhero changed his mind. The theme was fairy-tale (how lame he said) so he decided that Far Far Away needed a superhero and he went as Spiderman, maybe he's right and they do need him, so bring it on, here comes Spiderman alias Rembrandt!

I was warned, but every day a photo is a big thing, I'm overthinking it also a lot, so that's not helping... The Book is in the House!

Today the book arrived, you can see it in this slideshow. I've made it for my children, so it's in Dutch. Rembrandt loved it, his adventure in the garden with a Rhino who is afraid for spiders. He was looking at me: "when was this..." so funny.

I've ordered the book in extra glossy quality, a good choice for a children's book. You want to get rid off the sticky fingers when they appear. Also the colors are stunning on the glossy paper, so big WAUW in our home.

Six Feet Under

I really liked watching the HBO hit serie "Six Feet Under". Apart from the original theme, a dysfunctional family surrounded by death, i loved the atmosphere a lot.

Still with a dark edge, it inspired me to make some new lay-outs and with a little lovemagic the stillness is there and the macabre leaves (almost)

This week had FLU written all over it. BLUH

Not so nice, but I managed to make the week 4 Lay-out of my P365. I don't want to get behind on it. This week was funny because Rembrandt was in charge of the photo making process. So it's his little world of shopping, cleaning (not from my side) and playing with us. The result you can see here:

For a few months now I'm active on a dutch forum:Digiscrap.nl, in December I won the Christmas challenge and I can order a photo book now at Albelli.

I had the idea for some time now to make a children's book for Rembrandt & Lorelei. We always make up stories and tell adventures to each other, so why not making a book? The result is "Ridder Renhard & de Neushoorn" (transl. "Knight Runfast & the Rhino") soon on the shelf. For the lay-outs I used the material from Lorie Davison, her world looks a lot like my child dreams so the choice was easily made. I hope the book will be a fairy blast for my kids.... think they love it!

Today was a real sunny winter Sunday.

So we went to the museum of trains: spoorwegmuseum. Big fun children loved playing and running around, and we... well coffee was very nice.

Lukasin.com is in the air! A new adventure, very exiting. To make some structure (not my strongest asset) I've started my own project 365 like the Taylor McKnight principle. Offcourse with a Lukasin twist to it but hè: the sky is the limit right? This is going to be a nice book at the end of the year. Check it in this slideshow:
